Ring doorbells. Does it ring a bell? Well, Ring is an Amazon-owned doorbell. It has come to the notice of security researchers about the vulnerability of the doorbell which exposes user passwords for the Wi-Fi networks to which it is connected.

As reported by Bitdefender, the doorbell sends out user passwords in cleartext as it connects with a local network thus letting nearby hackers to gain access to the password with which they use for surveillance or other attacks.

Amazon only reported recently that it had fixed the bug in all Ring devices since September. The purpose of smart home devices is to ease everyday life, but security researchers have been able to repeatedly find vulnerabilities in these devices which are supposed to make life easier.
